📝 Lesson of The Week
A quick deep dive into the mindset, strategies, and systems that help you lead yourself and create the life you're truly capable of.
If I had to start my business over...
Experience teaches harsh but it teaches right.
I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was a child.
1st it was a lemonade stand on my Grandma’s sidewalk.
2nd it was picking up beer bottle caps in my childhood home for money with my big brother Cortlin (rip).
3rd it was shoveling driveways for $10-30 in the middle of snowstorms.
4th it was mowing lawns and doing landscape cleanup before graduating high-school.
5th it was selling millions of dollars worth of homes with 1-2 assistants for support.
And present day it’s been consulting with and mentoring 100+ entrepreneurs throughout the last 5-6 years…
…along with building:
- a live event and retreat business.
- a personal brand online.
It’s safe to say I’ve learned some valuable lessons in all those years.
Looking back there are 5 key lessons and mindset shifts that would’ve made me 10x the amount of money…
…if I only knew them back then.
Today I’ll pass them along to you.
Whether you are wanting to start... or ready to scale your business - you’re going to want to know this.
1) The basics of any business
“
If you have no money, you should have no shame. Knock. Call. Email. Text. DM. Ask. Life-changing doors don’t open themselves.
— Alex Hormozi
Fundamentally business is this simple:
Decide what your offer is and why other people would want it.
Real Estate for example is easy. People need to buy, sell, or invest in homes and don’t always want to do it themselves.
That’s where I came in.
What is the product or service you offer?
Tell as many people as humanly possible about the service or product you offer.
It's a numbers game.
At first no one knows you or what you do.
It's your job to tell them.
Eventually - as your business and reputation grows this becomes easier.
But at first, it's your sweat equity.
Close the deal and deliver what you offer.
Once you find someone who wants or needs your offer - offer it to them.
That’s it.
If you’re not making money right now, you’re probably avoiding the unsexy basics:
- Reaching out to 100 people
- Getting rejected 90 times
- Making your offer (product or service) better every week
- Following up until they either block you or buy
That’s what I would do first.
The entrepreneur who talks to the most people wins.
Once your business grows (or if you’re scaling) things will get more complicated.
Keep them simple as long, and often as possible.
2) Complexity is the enemy of progress
“
Doing the basics at scale is what makes you advanced, not complexity. Scale creates complexity in and of itself, you don't need to add more by being fancy. Simple scales. Fancy fails.
— Alex Hormozi
As your business grows things will get more complicated.
- New team members or employees.
- Making more money than you’re used to.
- Expanding book of business and pipeline.
You need to keep things simple as long, and often as possible.
Overcomplicating things is a humans specialty.
Steve Jobs said that when we master simplicity and focus… that’s when we are able to move mountains.
Stick with one business, one offer, one target audience, and one main source of generating clients.
Again: Simple scales, fancy fails.
Amateurs want variety.
Pros do the same thing every day.
3) Find the recipe to bake the cake
“
If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and model what they do and you'll achieve the same results.
— Tony Robbins
In every business there is a proven path to win.
- Models.
- Recipes.
- Systems.
- Frameworks.
There are many names but for now let’s use Recipe.
Let’s pretend you wanted to bake a cake.
Would you go into your kitchen and begin combining random ingredients?
What tools would you use?
How hot does the oven need to be? Wait, when do you even put it in the oven?
No you wouldn’t do that.
You would Google a recipe…
…one that someone more experienced and further ahead created…
…and you’d follow it the best you could.
Are you a baker? Well, no at least not professionally.
But could you bake a damn good cake? Sure can, if you follow the recipe.
Business is no different.
Find the best bakers (entrepreneurs) that have baked a lot of cakes (built businesses)…
…and get their recipe.
Copy it, study it, use it, and you’ll be successful…
…eventually you might even create your own recipe.
4) Sell the outcome, not the process
Sell green lawns, not grass seed.
Sell feet in the sand, not the plane ride to Hawaii.
This one I'm still working on mastering.
It's simple, but not easy...
...depending on the business you build and what you offer.
When talking to potential clients - don't sell them on the path ahead, sell them on the destination.
People don't buy with logic.
They buy with emotion, and then justify with logic.
Paint the picture of what your product or service will provide them...
...not the steps needed to deliver the outcome.
5) Imposter syndrome is bullshit
“
It’s not what you are that holds you back, it’s what you think you are not.
— Denis Waitley
I became a Real Estate agent at 19 years old - baby face and all.
Had I ever bought a home before?
Hell no.
Who cared?
No one.
Winning in business is 90% mental - you have to believe in yourself before anyone else will.
You don't need experience, a proven track record, or the best strategy.
You only need a little work ethic and self belief.
Bet on yourself - you'll figure it out as you go.
It might be scary but it's worth it - and one day others will ask you how you've done it.
Funny.
How I'd start (or scale) my business differently
Let’s pretend I started over today - here’s what I would do right now:
1st - Pick one painful, profitable, and tangible problem in a space I care about.
Mine is helping entrepreneurs scale their income and impact by getting out of their own way and freeing up their time.
2nd - Book 5–10 calls to give free value, do market research, and be helpful.
Give a portion of your service or product away for free at first.
Ask people in your target market:
- What is keeping you up at night?
- If you could wave a magic wand, what would your dream outcome look like?
- What have you already tried to solve your problem?
This will help you understand your ideal client - and craft your compelling offer (product or service).
3rd - Offer a simple, high-leverage service or product.
Mine is Self⚡️Led Entrepreneurs - entrepreneurs join the mastermind group and can optionally work with me 1on1 for 12 months.
We help them solve their bottlenecks in life and business, knock 15+ hours of their workweek, and reach record levels of impact + income.
4th - Build systems to automate, delegate, and eliminate.
“
People run processes, processes run businesses
— Bedros Keuilian
Create repeatable processes within my business using:
- AI & automation tools.
- Executive assistant.
- Loom videos.
- Checklists.
I’d do anything to reduce friction, improve production, and take things off my plate…
…along with improve the level of results and value I can provide my clients.
In my real estate business I had several assistants and very dialed in systems.
Currently I’m working on hiring a Virtual Assistant and Video Editor.
One step at a time.
5th - Document everything. Wins, losses, lessons. Build it all in public.
Not to brag, but I have a pretty incredible story.
I wish I would’ve documented it every step of the way.
- Photos.
- Videos.
- Voice memo’s.
- Journal entries.
All of it would inspire others and myself as I share it (like I’m finally doing now).
You never know who needs to your story…
…it might be their survival guide.
6th - Study as much as humanly possible.
“
One hour per day of study in your chosen field is all it takes. One hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field within three years. Within five years you’ll be a national authority. In seven years, you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do.
— Earl Nightingale
It doesn’t take long to become “an expert”.
The faster we learn, the better we’ll do, and the quicker we’ll climb the ladder in our industries.
Hope this helped.

⚡️ Behind the Scenes of a Self-Led Entrepreneur
A raw look at what it really takes to live, build, and lead as a Self-Led Entrepreneur scaling to 7 figures.
Equanimity.
"a state of mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation."
This is my biggest learning lately.
Staying calm, cool, and collected - no matter the external circumstance.
I've had some high highs - and low lows in the last few months.
Made some money. Lost some money.
False starts. Set backs.
Got in my own way at times.
In the midst of it I am learning to detach from what is happening around me...
...and stay happy, grateful, and inspired even in the chaos.
âś… Win of The Week: Crushing the rule of 300.
Earlier this week I started an experiment.
Alex Hormozi has a daily checklist for people building a personal brand and business (me).
- 100 Minutes of Creating Content
- 100 Minutes of Outreach (contacting potential clients)
- 100 Minutes of Comments (engaging on social media posts)
It’s been great to crush my work day in around 6 hours even with that amount of workload.
In the future I’ll slowly reduce - but for now this is exactly what I need to hit $40k /month by the end of the year.
❌ Challenge of The Week: Bottlenecking my own business.
In order to hit the next level I need help.
As mentioned above - I'm ready to hire a VA and Video Editor.
Once I do, my production will 10x lol.
What I Am Building & Improving
Lifestyle: Skinny but strong.
Eating has been the last thing on my mind - I've been 1000% focused on growing my business.
But, it's come at a cost. I lost some weight (again).
Upping the food and simplifying my training to make getting yoked a piece of cake.
Business: Taking on my next round of 1on1 clients!
I upgraded my offer recently and have been interviewing potential clients.
In the next 12 months a select group of entrepreneurs will quantum leap alongside me.
If you want to learn more - go here.
Money: Ready to get off the income rollercoaster.
Over the years I've experienced a lot of ups and downs with income.
Currently I'm focused on hitting consistent $20k months, and then scaling to $40k+ /month.
As I do, I'll pay off all debt - and keep my expenses low - so I can stack as much money as possible lol.
